Why did you take up Snowscooting?
Before Snowscooting, I skied and rode motocross and BMX. One day while skiing, I saw Nico on a Snowscoot at a local ski resort and I leapt at the idea. I’ve been Snowscooting since then. I get all of the satisfaction I do from BMX, both in the feel and in the ability to do tricks.
What other sports are you involved in, and what hobbies do you have?
When the snow is gone from the slopes I race BMX. This year, I am looking forward to competing on the FISE Experience Tour. I also ride on local trails. BMX is an excellent alternative to Snowscooting.
What is the most dangerous moment you ever experienced?
2When I was Snowscooting on the PlayStation Tour in 2004, I crashed terribly doing a back flip. I injured my jaw and needed eight stitches in my tongue. I also hurt my neck. I can’t say it is the best memory of that tour – but it probably helped me become more proficient.
What is the best thing about Snowscooting for you?
The best single moment was when I made my first flip. But I always enjoy just riding with my friends. Last summer’s trip to New Zealand was particularly good. I would be happy if I could continue Snowscooting forever.
Please tell us about your riding style and what model you use.
I use the JykK67 Titanium and think it’s perfect. The frame has the same angle as a BMX and is unbelievably light. The frame and fork can handle any condition in the backcountry as well as in a snowpark. In addition, the set of rather thin boards allows me to ride quite aggressively.
